I have a XAMPP 1.7.7 install that I am trying to run Moodle off of. This exact Moodle code works on an Amazon EC2 server, but when I try to run it off my XAMPP server, it gives an error:
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfil the request.
This started happening today. Last Friday I was happily working away on this project; now I can't do anything! I've done some Googling, and in the process of such I have checked for things like the .htaccess file and things like that, but everything looks fine! The Moodle config.php file has correct information in it, and like I said, this is the exact code (from an SVN repository) that is running properly on an Amazon EC2 server. The only errors I get in the apache error logs of XAMPP is this:
[Mon Jul 16 10:07:52 2012] [alert] [client ::1] C:/xampp/htdocs/PCSTraining/moodledata/.htaccess: AllowOverride not allowed here
This alert was showing up last week though, when the server was running properly. I looked in the .htaccess file in question and it says "This file is broken on purpose", so I assume that's not the problem (also, removing this file didn't fix anything).
Does anyone have some direction for me? I need to fix this so I can work on it, heh. I'm willing to re-install XAMPP if that's necessary.
If I didn't say it yet, all the other XAMPP things work fine. I'm running Moodle from http://localhost/[dir]/moodle/, where I get the 500 error. If I back up to http://localhost/[dir]/ it gives me all the contents of the folder. So I'm confused.
Any help would be very appreciated!
