Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

The tcp mss size is set to 1280 and MTU as 1500 ..for my asa from which we have established a Ipsec tunnel to a remote location...the tunnel is up and active but we see loss in the connectivity every now and then. And also I see packet drops. There are no errors on the ASA (my end) and pix (remote end ) interfaces and also no duplex and type mismatches.

Any help or commands to test this drop can help. ( !!! it is of emergency as I have already established the tunnel).

Thanks in advance, Hari.

try running MTR between the two end points, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTR_(software) – The Unix Janitor Jul 20 '12 at 16:30
Verify that the MTU is indeed the problem by letting fragmentation occur: crypto ipsec df-bit clear-df outside, let us know the results. – Shane Madden Jul 21 '12 at 0:13
