I have virtual box installed on my MacPro. I created a virtual ubuntu 12.04 machine. After doing the ubuntu install and running updates I rebooted and ubuntu was working normally. I then installed mysql server and tested it was working after the install, I even set the root password. then I rebooted the ubuntu machine and when I attempted to check the status of the mysql server I was informed mysql was not installed.

After reading other responses to a similar question and looking for the mysql installation I have not been able to find it. I installed mysql by way of:

sudo apt-get install mysql-server

Thank you, ~ Allen

I Believe the problem is with virtualbox.
Your disk may be readonly, or you have installed it in another snapshot
