Is there a simple way (script or otherwise) to export amazon security groups' info into iptables format?

Do you mean using API to fetch the rules and converting them? –  Tibor Aug 6 '12 at 18:18

Yes -- maybe using boto? –  ranman Aug 6 '12 at 19:40

What problem are you actually trying to solve? I can't see any reason why you would want to do this, since the SGs and IPs will be unique to AWS, and there's no point applying the rules to your EC2 instances since EC2 is already doing the same blocking for you. –  womble Aug 6 '12 at 20:34

I have some servers hosted on actual hardware that I want to have the same / similar security as the AWS servers -- meaning: I only want them to respond to connections from my app (ec2) servers. –  ranman Aug 6 '12 at 21:28
