I have an issue when trying to utilize a hardware load balancer for my CAS array. I have configured the individual CAS server to use the array name and have setup three DNS entries for this process. One for each individual server and the third for the array name itself. When I change DNS settings for the array name to point to the array's ip address Outlook will then prompt for credentials. If the dns setting points to either individual CAS server then Outlook will open without prompting for credentials The CAS servers are running Server 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010 SP RU2.

What are you using for load balancing? What happens if you change your host file to point to the CAS array? – jmreicha Aug 9 '12 at 15:06
We are using Load Balancer appliances. It turns out we were not load balancing the static address book port that we defined on the servers. As soon as that was defined the prompt for credentials stopped. – Stan Aug 16 '12 at 20:57
