Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We are moving from an old Citrix system onto Windows 2008 terminal servers. The only thing we are struggling with is printing from our remote offices with slow wan links. The speed of the jobs is now considerably worse.

We have turned of the easy print system, this seems to have helped as the jobs are smaller, but its still not as quick as it was on citrix.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how we can try and speed this up, i know there are some third party drivers that claim to speed it up, but we dont have any money to spend.

thanks Luke

I'm not sure I understand... are the users really trying to print across the WAN links? –  HopelessN00b Aug 20 '12 at 15:11

This is one of the reasons people buy Citrix... better printing. –  Bret Fisher Aug 20 '12 at 23:42

yes the users are printing over a wan link, we are coming away from citrix because of some other issues and as a cost saving. I cant imagine TS printing is that poor? –  beakersoft Aug 21 '12 at 8:21
