I can't find any Microsoft-Windows-Kenel-General events in the event log. It is a Windows 2008 Standard Edition server. Is there any setting that has to be switched on for them to be logged?

The eventIDs that I am looking for is 12 and 13.

Are you sure there are supposed to be any? What specific events are you expecting to see that aren't there? – HopelessN00b Aug 27 '12 at 12:58
They are 12(Boot) and 13(Shutdown). The server is rebooted regularly. – unlimit Aug 27 '12 at 13:43

Well, you shouldn't do that, but you should update the question with that information. Regularly rebooting a server is not good; it causes added stress on the components and accelerates hardware failure. – HopelessN00b Aug 27 '12 at 13:48
