Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have added the following changes in nginx configuration.

   server {
    listen 8080;
    root /usr/share/nginx/www;
    client_body_temp_path /tmp/;
    dav_methods     PUT DELETE MKCOL COPY MOVE;
    create_full_put_path    on;
    dav_access      user:rw group:rw all:rw;
   }

I have my nginx configured with --with-http_dav_module also. But when I am trying to running the command:

$ curl -XPUT http://172.16.31.127:8080/test.html -d 'test'

I am getting 500 Internal Server error.

Can anyone help me out in solving this.

Edit: The log says:

2012/09/05 19:41:52 [crit] 7746#0: *17 rename() "/tmp/0000000015" to "/usr/share/nginx/www/test.html" failed (13: Permission denied), client: 172.16.31.127, server: , request: "PUT /test.html HTTP/1.1", host: "172.16.31.127:8080"

Does the user that nginx is running as have write-access to that directory? Try something like sudo -u nginx touch /usr/share/nginx/www/test.html –  nickgrim Sep 5 '12 at 14:26
