Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

My debian squeeze server ha begin to hang/freeze when I try to access my md raid 5 over network (via samba or afp/netatalk).

This behavior started when I installed netatalk, libgcrypt11 from wheezy. Or when I run a apt-get upgrade

The following things works:

  • Accessing another drive via samba.
  • Writing and reading to/from the raid internally

The server hangs almost immediately (~1sec) after I try to write or read from the raid over network.

/var/log/daemon.log, kern.log, syslog says nothing.

Someone have any ideas?

I would strace -ff the samba processus while making the raid hangs to see if it provides more information. Also triple check disks. –  coincoin Sep 14 '12 at 20:30
