In Outlook 2010, for basically all email attachments (sent from internal or external sources), but most importantly Word and Excel files, I want to force Protected View on, and prevent editing (so hide that Enable Edit button) for Outlook email attachments. But I want to allow printing the document while in that mode\view. Can that be done? via GPO or registry or any other way?
Basically users get emails with attachments, they too often double-click, open the word document, click Enable Editing and work away while this file is in that remote temporary location - then they wonder where all their changes went when they can't find the file. I know about making that location read only, that doesn't work when you first click Forward, then open the attachment, work on it, hope it's being saved, then save and\or send it. It's a nice workflow, it's just dangerous. If I can set Protected Mode to Block Save it would be great, the problem is, this also prevents printing.
