I need some help with MS Lync 2010. I have Std. Edition, just a basic run of the mill setup and its been working great until a few weeks ago. I have about 20 users on the system and I added 2 new users. The users cant see anyone, the current users dont seem to have an updated address book. Ive done all the GAL db stuff found on various blogs and websites, still to no avail. The only thing I keep finding in the IIS logs is the following:

Event code: 3005 Event message: An unhandled exception has occurred. Event time: 10/2/2012 9:37:40 AM Event time (UTC): 10/2/2012 1:37:40 PM Event ID: 719d56d6ebe24e43bc1052180013bd74 Event sequence: 2 Event occurrence: 1 Event detail code: 0

Custom event details:

When I try to open up my browser to access the Address Book files, I get Server Error in '/Abs/Handler' Application. which is part of the event ID error. The server cert is good until 2014, IIS has been reset and even a server reboot has been performed. Any ideas??

I found the answer. I ran Microsoft updates and ran several Microsoft Lync patches, rebooted. I then created a new policy for the ABWQ and then point all my users to that new policy (about 20 users). Once I did that I went to every machine and deleted all the db and cache files, restarted lync and now everything seems to work. Bonus, everyone uses the Address book server directly, the galcontacts file is no longer needed. – gabrielVa Oct 2 '12 at 19:44
