I have a Windows 2003 server running IIS 6. Lately there has been a problem that connections to MySQL (v5.0.51b) fail inexplicably. This doesn't seem to be a failure problem, but rather a load problem, since about 1/10 times the connection succeeds.
Restarting the MySQL service doesn't help and overall I can't see any problems with MySQL at all (slow logs, for example, don't show anything out of the ordinary). However, restarting IIS does help! Can't see anything out of the ordinary in the event log either.
When it fails, both ASP (using ODBC 3.51) and PHP scripts can't connect to MySQL.
The server itself doesn't seem to be loaded overall, both CPU and RAM usage is low.
If this is not a known problem, please let me know what further information I should provide to help find the cause. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Note: This is a production server so unfortunately I can't go about disabling services at random etc. to slowly arrive at the cause.
