Connecting to a remote system through SSH, I always end up being connected to the pts/5 pseudo-terminal.

No other session than mine is running (checked with w and ps fax), and restarting the SSH service didn't have any effect.

How do I reset pseudo-terminal usage? Is it possible my pts handels are corrupted? How to fix them?

Thanks,

I'm observing this same thing on my freshly installed system (Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS), and I'm curious why this is happening. Are pts/[0-4] being used for some other purpose? –  musiphil Jul 10 '13 at 23:15
