Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Goal is to have desktops lock if they walk away. Compromise is screensaver after some idle time + ask password. Used group policy, set idle time and ask password option...problem is it works on some...others it doesnt...any ideas? Using server 2003 func. Lvl...xp and 7 clients...

Help!

Any other way to lock it besides screensaver?

Do you have a pattern for the hosts on which it doesn't work? If memory serves, the screensaver timeout GPO will lock the system always, whether or not a screensaver is defined or how new the OS is. –  Falcon Momot Oct 20 '12 at 7:02
