Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a little trouble with my server again. My load raises up very much and my cpu is also at 99%. That all happens if i enable one vhost. I get this error messages in my apache error logs:

mod_fcgid: can't apply process slot

All other vhosts works normal. If i disable that one vhost my server runs perfectly with very little load around 0.10. If i enable that vhost i get this error messages:

mod_fcgid: can't apply process slot for /var/www/vhosts/sitename/....

I know there are a lot of threads in google and i follow a lot of tips but no tip has work. The strange think i don't understand that every other vhosts is working perfectly only this one make this problem. Did somebody have an idea where i can take a look? Is it a permission problem? Or more a configuration think so that there are some limits which are reached?

Thanks for your help Regards Max

What does that vhost run? Plain html? PHP? Perl? Wordpress? Joomla? Some other CMS? Massive custom code written in BASIC? Have you looked at the web server logs for that vhost (not the error logs)? Does it do it instantly, or does it take hours. Need more info. –  EightBitTony Oct 20 '12 at 15:19
Hi, on that vhost run some little php script. But they don't do any heavy work. If i copy the entire script to another vhost everythink runs smoothly. Some you can open the script from that vhost. but i take upto 1 minute to load. in other cases the server don't give an response. the crazy think is all other vhosts answer normally:) –  user1083404 Oct 20 '12 at 15:47
