Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've installed a Wordpress site on a host (actually I moved it from localhost). The site loads and works perfectly, however if I log in with Admin, the admin page doesn't completely load and all further requests to the server are blocked for about 10 or 15 minutes. I can't even ping to the site. Where could this problem be from? Is it firewall related or...?

Any help or idea is greatly appreciated.

that is odd. What firewall are you running? I would check the firewall log and paste it here. Maybe the admin part of wordpress is spamming your connection to the server which causes it to block your IP. –  Sc0rian Oct 23 '12 at 16:22

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have any access to the host anymore (It's hosted on a university data center's server. I'll try to ask them for the log tomorrow. –  Auxiliary Oct 23 '12 at 16:33

if you do not have access to any other hosts, have a look at what connections are going out when you login to your admin panel. You can do this with wireshark for example. I'm guessing something on the admin pages causes too many requests to somewhere. –  Sc0rian Oct 23 '12 at 17:04
