I have a bunch of euc-tw filenames that I need to convert to ascii, however convmv refuses to convert with:

ascii doesn't cover all needed characters for: ""
To prevent damage to your files, we won't continue.
First fix this or correct options!

It doesn't matter if the characters are converted to ?. I just want to obtain ascii filenames. I couldn't find any switches to persuade convmv to convert.

Thanks in advance

Why does it have to be convmv? –  HopelessN00b Oct 25 '12 at 14:30
It doesn't :D xxxxx –  nrs Oct 25 '12 at 18:26
Then you might get better results if you ask how to convert euc-tw to ASCII, and point out that you get the following error using convmv. Restricting the question to how to do it in one tool significantly narrows the scope of people who might have an answer for you. –  HopelessN00b Oct 25 '12 at 18:35
