Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I use SFTP Net Drive to mount a remote VPS so I can back it up. However, it's taken over 3+ days to scan! I ran 'ls -lR' from my desktop over the mounted network drive and it only took about 5m to list all the files! There are only about 5000 files and 2 GB.

I know Crashplan can run headless on the VPS itself, but that sounds like a pain to set up, and it takes so much memory on the server. The VPS doesn't have a lot of memory to spare - it's less than my desktop.

Is there another program that can communicate with a Crashplan backup protocol and has a command line interface?

backup /home

Sorry but Serverfault and its sister sites don't really do product recommendations. – RobM Oct 27 '12 at 22:08
fwiw, its not hard to run headless at all. Won't fix the memory issues though. – Sirex Oct 28 '12 at 2:18
