Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm testing FastCGI and APC on cPanel server (CentOS 5.8, PHP 5.3.18, Apache 2.2.23). I want to allow users to have a custom php.ini by doing the following:

  1. Copying server's php.ini to user's cgi-bin directory.
  2. Create php.fcgi in cgi-bin directory containing the following:
    #!/bin/sh
    export PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN=1
    export PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS=1000
    exec /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/php5
  3. Add these 2 lines to the top of .htaccess:
    AddHandler php5-fastcgi .php
    Action php5-fastcgi /cgi-bin/php.fcgi

The custom php.ini works fine, but APC seems to stop caching according to apc.php. Is there something wrong with my wrapper? If I bypass this setup by removing the 2 lines from .htaccess, APC works properly again according to apc.php.
