Using the HP Network Utility to team 2 ports on Windows 2008 R2 Standard results in this error:-----

An error occurred when making a call into the operating system.

Happens on either of two cards that are installed.

  1. This happened before and after upgrading to PSP 9.10.
  2. Uninstalled the HP Network Configuration Utility and re-installed version 10.65.0.6.
  3. Updated NIC drivers.
    • NC382i DP - HP Broadcom 1Gb Multifunction Driver 7.4.23.0 (from 6.2.9.0)
    • NC365T - Intel E1R 11.14.80.0 (from 11.14.49.0)

The error I listed aboce occurs when teaming 2 or more ports on the same card. With these two particular cards, you can team across them, but the NCU will give a warning that some features will be disabled due to differences.

Either way, not matter which ports I team, the error displays.

I have completed these additional steps:

  1. Uninstall the device and driver through Device Manager
  2. Reinstall device and driver
  3. Uninstalled and reinstalled the NCU

Error still occurs when attempting a team.

Yikes... even though those are both HP NICs one has a broadcom chipset and the other Intel, is it even a supported configuration do team two different manufacturers? – SpacemanSpiff Nov 21 '12 at 5:11

@SpacemanSpiff You can team HP and Intel NICs together. I'd recommend upgrading the firmware to both as well and I'd actually use the Intel teaming utility through device manager instead of the NCU. – Rex Nov 21 '12 at 5:53
