Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am a DBA, and my network admin just introduced me to a new SQL database server that we use for System Center implementation.. I believe that we use Operations Manager, SMS.. we use a handful of products, I'm not even positive that this is a system center question.

but the cubes on this server are using WAY too much memory.. the whole server runs poorly, and I can't add more memory.. (our company just got acquired and all of our server migrations are on hold)

I really need to do something to decrease the frequency of cube processing, or cut down the cube processing window.

Would it be possible to just stop the Analysis Services component entirely? We have a handful of custom reports using the RDBMS, nothing using cubes yet :)

Our whole company only consists of 300 employees (scattered throughout 15 locations).

If I had to guess.. I'm guessing that we get a TON of notifications that we're running out of hard drive space.. I just don't know how to quantify that guess.. into some sort of reasonable 'best practice' for cutting the load on this server.
