Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have no idea if this is the correct place to put this, it seems as if it would be.

I am a complete NOOB. I have looked high and low and found only completely complicated ideas on this. I understand I need to configure it. That's where I'm stuck. I have no idea how to configure it so I can have my emails setup.

This is for a business, and it needs to be done soon, but I have no idea how to do it. If someone could possibly help me out via text/video/remote control I would be so very grateful.

Thank you in advance, Happy Holidays

This is not an appropriate question. People on ServerFault are not here to give free consultations to businesses. If the business does not have a professional IT person, I recommend they look into a hosted email solution (Google Apps, Office 365, etc). – Anton Cohen Dec 9 '12 at 5:52

I would look at a hosted solution or a local consultant to help in this case. Mail is easy to mess up, especially if you're talking about business mail. If you want things to be reliable, lean on someone who's done this before...

That said, all the steps you need are here, in one place:

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix

This makes sure you have Postfix and Dovecot installed, gives you the bare minimum configuration files that should be changed, and helps make sure the service starts.

You will need some other tweaks to make sure that you're not flagged as a spammer. Those items are covered here:

Fighting Spam - What can I do as an: Email Administrator, Domain Owner, or User?

Sorry, I didn't mean to say business as : Large, expensive, high networth...no. This is just a family business. I am the IT guy, and I'm not very..IT. I guess. I just need a very simple way to do this, and thank you eww, I will look at that. I will do my best to get this set up. I appreciate your answer as to the other one. – Jacob Andersen Dec 9 '12 at 6:03
