So right now I have a Mac Pro 8 core and a Macbook Pro. My Macbook pro does have enough power to do some of the rendering processing i need to do. I was wondering how can i set it up so that i can plug into my Mac Pro so that when im doing heavy processing it would send it to my Mac Pro and not use my Macbook pro processors. I do have Mac OSX sever and am running mountain lion on both computers. I read online that could use Xgrid to set up a cluster computer type set up, but im worried that this would than make my Mac Pro unable to be used as a regular computer. Thanks john

Compressor can do this for you. It's called distributed encoding. http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/compressor/#distributed-encoding
