There was a fatal SMTP error.

Fatal DNS error: exchanger alt4.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com. does not exist

What does your email server use for DNS? –  joeqwerty Dec 19 '12 at 22:46

Is this for a home or a business? What kind of internet connection do you have? –  Rex Dec 20 '12 at 8:42

The server (win-2003 server) lives in a data center. I have a DNS server in operation, but also tried 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 . The mail server software is ArgoSoft. –  Martel Jan 4 '13 at 18:17
