Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Disclaimer

All of this system administration stuff is very new to me in a Mac/Linux environment. Please be gentle.

Objective

Determine, and clean up, the number of MySQL instances on my machine.

What I DO know

  • I installed a version of MySQL way back to play with a bit and installed MySQLWorkbench to administer it.
  • I just installed a MAMP stack, with MAMP, and it installed a version of MySQL

What I DON'T know

How do I determine how many MySQL Servers are running? Is there a command that will list them?

How do I get rid of the one I don't need? The one that's NOT on the MAMP stack?
