I have a MySQL database storing user accounts (username and password) for my website. I need to provide a publicly accessible revision control system (eg. Git) toward some source files archived on server. It doesn't matter if this system is Git or SVN or any equivalent solution suitable for this problem: what's important is that users have to be allowed to access the revision system using just their accounts stored in database, with no other complication to the users (such as cryptographic keys).
Bob registers to website with password
1234; hence he must be allowed to access the revision system by
git clone firstname.lastname@example.org:/rep/
using password 1234
Are there available solutions?
