I want to rent more powerful dedicated server for sake of Minecraft hosting.

Currently I own Sandy Bridge i3 2130 2-Core 4-Threads 3.4+ GHz 64bits 8GB RAM (KS R-8G from Kimsufi).

It’s performance is very flat. Going over 100% of CPU usage simply means “lag”:

@ 25 players: top –c = 100% ~ 120%

@ 50 players top –c = 150% ~ 190%!

I want to hover up to 300 players and need advice what machine to order (prefably from OVH.co.uk).

I have eye on: Sandy Bridge E Intel Xeon E5-1620 Intel Smart Cache: 10MB 3.6GHz 64 GB DDR3 ECC (EG 64G SSD from OVH) Is it suitable?

Side question is why top –c and htop show 2 different values? Htop shows that cores/threads are balanced, but it seems they are not.

Second side question would be whre to ask is there a way to optimalise this process: java -Xmx6168M -jar craftbukkit.jar
