i installed pligg CMS on my site. But the problem is if i choose to validate user email option, then if any user register on my site it is showing the error below:

"Could not instantiate mail function."

Could anyone please help me to solve this problem with PLIGG. It is not sending the email verification link but showing the error above.

It's quite likely you never configured a mail subsystem on your Debian box. PHP on Linux needs a sendmail-style interface to send out mails. In most cases like this, you wouldn't need a large system like Exim or Postfix but instead a simple relay-only server like Nullmailer or SSMTP would suffice.

My server is in 1and1, i am using another package and there is no problem about pligg. I bought a new package and the problem on the new package not old one. –  Barkat Ullah Jan 2 '13 at 13:24
If this is a shared hosting package, you need to contact 1&1 support. –  Sven Jan 2 '13 at 13:28
