I cannot connect to my VPS's MySQL databases remotely.

The 3306 port is open. In /etc/my.cnf bind-address and skip-networking lines are deleted.

And when I try to connect from a remote machine I get this error:

Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded

What do you get from off-server when you do telnet ip.of.server 3306? What do you get on the server when you do netstat -an|grep 3306? And can we get the output of iptables -L -n -v (again, on the server) pasted into the question? –  MadHatter Jan 8 '13 at 16:28
1. Connect failed 2. tcp 0 0* LISTEN and pastie.org/private/l58mgeovk2vpwh2qc2ydq - iptables –  user152513 Jan 8 '13 at 16:35
It's interesting that the counts on your TCP/3306 connection rule are zero. Are you sure that eth0 is the appropriate interface? –  MadHatter Jan 8 '13 at 16:48
ethtool eth0 Settings for eth0: Link detected: yes –  user152513 Jan 8 '13 at 17:01
For debug purposes disable iptables by service iptables stop and disable selinux by setenforce 0. Try to connect. –  dchirikov Jan 8 '13 at 17:04
