Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

My company gave me a budget to build a VM server, so I bought a Supermicro server and saved some $$ by buying an aftermarket MegaRaid - 8308ELP (I know it's old, but it fit my needs and was cheap). I am running Proxmox VE (Debian 6 based) and have installed the MegaCLI firmware. I get status and can query the drives through the cli, so I know it works, problem is, the red lights are still on that indicates a drive failure. I thought that installing the firmware would clear these lights, but it did not. Anyone with suggestions? Thank you!

Yeah, let's make an intelligence test. What error does the MegaCLI state for the drive that is red? –  TomTom Jan 9 '13 at 23:05

Really? An intelligence test? Did you NOT read my question? All the drives are red... ALL are good. I thought that installing the firmware would make the lights turn green... I was wrong. Here's output from megaclisas-status: –  Alan Jan 10 '13 at 21:52
