I have an IIS6 box that is not working due to permissions problems.
I have a folder
inetpub and its subfolders, all of which I need to be accessible to anonymous internet users.
I selected it and selected permissions, and the users in the window are not the same as the users in my computer/manage.
It's not clear that there is a user to represent anonymous internet users, but there sure isn't one on the list. So I created one.
When I go to a folder to apply that as a user, there is a checkbox for "allow anonymous user access", and a username and password. I looked at another server, this one with IIS5 and it has the same box, except when you check the box for anonymous users there is no username or password. Seems to me there shouldn't need to be one, they are anonymous.
Why does my box with the allow anon users have a field for username and password and whatever should go there since these users have no credentials and are not supposed to have any?
