I have a Windows 2008 R2 File Server with several shares. Most of the shares are public, but I want to allow people to create folders and set permissions so that only the appropriate people can access them (obviously admins should always be able to access and manage these folders as well). I seem to be running into issues with different results between the Win and Mac clients Win7 and 10.8.2 for Mac. Sometimes the folder is accessible on the Mac but locked out on the Windows computer. The Macs are accessing the folders via SMB. Please assist.
I noticed that Deny Creator Owner is being applied to newly created folders after I create a folder in the share, and restrict access to only a few people by removing authenticated users and staff. Any ideas?
