I am in a company that is a fan of Couchbase ( Version 1.8.x). Our Couchbase servers always has RAM around 48 GB. Couchbase Total Allocated is 39 GB. Couchbase In Use around ~ 15-29GB . Note that we use Couchbase server independently , not in Cluster. There is also some problems we have to faced with:

  • We have to backup using cbbackup, so our servers have to eat SWAP, we have to Clear cache & Clean SWAP. ==> does Clearing Cache making bad effect to our Couchbase Data (data loss or sth else) ? We use these command to clear cache and clean swap :

Commands:

`sync`
`echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches`

`echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches`
`echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches`
`echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches`
`swapoff -a``
`swapon -a`
  • What is the best optimize RAM Setup ? We have 48 GB RAM , 39GB is for Couchbase Total Allocated.

Anyone has experience with Couchbase pls give me some advices. Thank you very much.
