Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have tried it all, followed http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/3_-_store_setup_and_management/payment/paypal_standard_payments_setup_with_ipn but no success.

Here is my config (relevant options) on magento side (PayPal Website Payment Standard): - Payment Action (Sale) - Transfer Cart Line Items (YES) - Enable SSL verification (YES)

Here is my config on the PayPal side: - Auto Return ON - Return URL (http://mySite/index.php/paypal/standard/success/) - Payment Data transfer (OFF) - Notification URL (http://www.myStore.com/index.php/paypal/standard/ipn/) - Message delivery (ON)

From the tutorial i probably dont use Re-Write URLs as mention, because i never set one. I also did not set any password protection in my .htaccess file. I am hosting this on BlueHost.

The situation is like so: - Customer pays. - He gest an email from PayPal - My store gets an email. - Customer has to click link “Return to my website”. - He returns to my site thats saying Order received and so on…

But the order is in “Pending payment” state, so i presume the IPN message was not intercepted by magento ...

Could it be that your Paypal integration is set to PREAUTH and you need to collect the payment in your Paypal account? We've just had a similar worry with a client's site but it all works as expected for them without any special setup of their Paypal account –  Simon Feb 1 '13 at 17:21
