Trying to get ocfs2 running on Ubuntu 10. I don't quite understand where everything goes.

I have 2 servers APP1 and APP2 that I want to cluster /dev/sdc1 on. These are separate vms. /dev/sdc is a volume on each system and are not connected.

So where do I run all the commands? On both servers? Or just on 1? Do I need a 3rd server for this configuration? I assumed that I would run all commands on each server. But that seems like it is not the case since nothing syncs. Everything I have read says that the conf file goes on every node but not where to run all the other commands like formatting the partition.

node:
        ip_port = 7777
        ip_address = 192.168.0.101
        number = 0
        name = APP1
        cluster = ocfs2
node:
        ip_port = 7777
        ip_address = 192.168.0.102
        number = 1
        name = APP2
        cluster = ocfs2
cluster:
        node_count = 2
        name = ocfs2

grep ocfs2 /var/log/messages | less

You need to set it up on both machines yes, but can you let us know MUCH more details please, what's the shared storage, how's it presented, are you seeing the raw LUN/s on both machines, what have you tried, what do your config files look like, what are you seeing etc. –  Chopper3 Jan 31 '13 at 23:25

You don't need a third machine, but you will need to enter all the right commands and configure OCFS2 on both machines before those commands - but you could still add a lot more detail, please could you look at my last comment and let us see what your responses are please. –  Chopper3 Feb 1 '13 at 8:46

What make you think it is not working? –  quanta Feb 22 '13 at 16:13
