Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have setup a VPN server at UK and connected it from my PC. The problem is my PC cannot resolve some domains like twimg.com paypal.com etc. Does these servers denies VPN servers or especially my IP range? It is not about https pages because some other ssl pages opening with no problem.

I am using OpenDNS and GoogleDNS IPs on my VPN server.

For example:

Resolves this: https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/2135529717/twitter2_normal.jpg

But not this: https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/3158515297/0c16bcc4fd67f21fc0aeacdfc387705b_normal.jpeg

Is your client using the VPN server for DNS queries? Do you observe the same behaviour when resolving directly from the VPN server? –  mgorven Feb 4 '13 at 19:17

wget gets file with no problem and with no delay on VPN server. I also tried clearing my DNS cache on PC for possible conflicts. –  xy_ Feb 4 '13 at 19:21

If it can get one image in si0.twimg.com but can't get another one, it's probably not a DNS issue, unless there's an image cached. –  hrunting Feb 5 '13 at 4:36
