I want to create a script that would launch a windows RDP session and set an environment variable for the session.

How is that possible?

(i.e. I am not asking how to set an environment variable manually when the RDP session is running)

What are you needing this for? –  fuero Feb 7 '13 at 8:57

I need to transfer a context from the client machine to the remote session. In practice it is just simple id. The applications on the remote machine can then read this id from the environment variable (of course I'm not talking about applications in general) –  enomem Feb 7 '13 at 10:08

For example there is the CLIENTNAME environment variable dynamically set for every RDP session. It is not user specific but client host specific. Can I create a similar one for custom purposes. –  enomem Feb 7 '13 at 10:17
