I have an exchange 2007 server running for mydomain.com and I have setup a second (linux) mail server for the support.mydomain.com subdomain. I have setup an smtp connector to the other server, and if I email email@example.com it passes through as expected.
Now, I want any user on the exchange server to be able to email firstname.lastname@example.org and it forwards it to the support server. So I created a new mailbox on the exchange server called 'support', and a contact (for email@example.com), and setup the support mailbox to forward to the contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Now, if I send to email@example.com I always get a 550 error back saying "#550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##" and I can see exchange is not even contacting the linux box.
Is it possible to forward a mailbox to a subdomain like this? (Or any way)? I need firstname.lastname@example.org to go to the other server as email@example.com
