I am managing a mediatemple dv 4.

I am trying to get nginx and apache to both listen on Port 80 on two separate ip addresses. When I place the following:

listen ipaddress:80;
server_name domain;

into the nginx.conf file and restart nginx, I get a message that the address I told it to listen to is duplicated and being ignored. When I run netstat, I see that nginx is still listening on all ip addresses at Port 80. I figure this maybe means that somewhere nginx is set to listen on somewhere, but I can't figure out where.

Anybody here have some insight into getting nginx and apache to both listen on Port 80 on a mt dv 4? I've been at this for a few hours.

Check that all your server blocks are configured like this. – mgorven Feb 22 '13 at 18:58
Unfortunately I don't see any other instances of server or listen anywhere. – Christopher Miller Feb 22 '13 at 19:15
Do you maybe have a backup file created by your editor in the configuration directory (e.g. mysite~)? – mgorven Feb 22 '13 at 19:17
Well, I was able to get nginx to only listen on one ip. Now I am getting 404 errors from nginx when I try to view a page. I tried reverting back to as before, but still getting 404. Any idea why nginx seemingly not able to talk to Apache anymore? – Christopher Miller Feb 22 '13 at 21:19
What was the solution? If you have a different problem you should rather ask a new question. – mgorven Feb 22 '13 at 21:41
