I have a Windows 2008 server running IIS. I want to use the Windows Search service to index the files in my website so I may provide a search feature. I have Windows Search installed and have built the index for the path containing my web files. However, it seems that the indexer is not indexing the contents of all the files. For example, out of my entire site, only two HTML files had their contents indexed. Even other HTML files in the same location were missed.
I have double checked that html, pdf, etc is selected under the file types tab for indexing and they are set to index file properties and contents.
How can I get the Windows Search service to properly index the contents of these files?
It appears this is only a problem for files that existed prior to the index being built. Any new files that are added to the folder have their content properly indexed. Also, any files moved out of the folder and back in have their content properly indexed. Is there any way to force the indexer to index the content of existing files?
