I'm pulling my hair off on this problem:
I got a normal ADSL Wi-Fi modem/router (all-in-one).
My VM is using the Hyper-V thing on Windows 8.
I need my Ubuntu setup use the physical computer network to access the router and therefore have internet connection. I will use a notebook for this, and thus I have two network cards (one Wifi and another on cable).
So I have a fixed IP connecting my guest VM direct to the Wifi physical NIC with DHCP on the router disabled. Say here will be 192.168.1.254 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1
I still want to allow my network access the VM, AND the host computer, via the same network. Say 192.168.0.0.
Remember that the Wifi clients should receive an IP too, via the DHCP server, since the DHCP server on the router is disabled. And another thing, I want to my employees have the 192.168.0.0 network IP's, and other ones accessing directly 192.168.1.1 (the router). Is it possible?
How to do this routing? I also setup BIND and DHCP server on the VM. I know a little of iptables, but I don't get a clue with actual environment.
