I had a permissions problem with my logs so my generated Awstats have a large number of missed dates. Following "How to analyze multiple gz log files for Awstats?" and "How can I process an old log file?", I've tried to regenerate these statistics as follows:
Step 1. Delete the old month cache:
Step 2. Reparse all of my old log files, because they are logrotate'd, by specifying a new
LogFile (takes 15 minutes):
perl /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=my.domain.com -update -showcorrupted -LogFile="/usr/share/doc/awstats/examples/logresolvemerge.pl /var/log/apache2/other_vhosts_access.log* |"
Step 3. Update the HTML again as normal:
perl /usr/share/doc/awstats/examples/awstats_buildstaticpages.pl -config=my.domain.com -dir=/output/dir -awstatsprog=/usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl
However after doing all of these steps, the generated pages still fail to display the old information. I've tried passing the -month=x arguments, deleting the generated files, and I've checked that the log files actually contain old log information. Short of deleting the entire cache and reparsing from scratch (which will take days), I'm out of ideas... what could I try next?
