Is there a way to cache user creds from a Windows Server 2008 to a Ubuntu server?

We have 2 internal Active Directory servers on Windows Server 2008 and we have many different applications that use LDAP to authenticate users. However we also use Amazon to host some of these applications as well as for disaster recovery.

Anyways is there a way to create a Ubuntu machine that would sync to our internal LDAP once a day and cache the users so our cloud servers can just authenticate in the cloud and then we wouldn't need a vpn connection established on every cloud server to our internal network for authentication.

Thanks!
