I've just finished spinning up a FreeNAS install for various install ISOs, tools, etc for our team. The box is a small HP microserver with 500 gig of disk total, set up in a RAID-Z ZFS pool.
I've enabled both NFS and Samba(CIFS) connectivity to the server. I was able to load our inventory of various bits and pieces without incident.
However, the problem comes when I try to organize the files. Attempts to either move or rename any file on the storage (either with NFS or SMB) fails with a "This file is open elsewhere" message familiar to any windows user.
This is impossible, as only one system is connected to the share and the connection is fresh - I definitely don't have this file open!
Furthermore, it seems like extraordinarily long filenames are being truncated to DOS 8.3 format. Example: Windows_7_Professional_SP1_Included_Corporate_MainImage1.iso becomes: WMPJZ1~W.ISO - however this only happens under SMB. If NFS is used, the full name appears.
Is there something terribly obvious I've missed in my configuration?
