I recently started using proftpd for my needs of a simple ftp client on my Ubuntu 10.10 server. I started with a configuration I found online, but I can't find the source anymore. At the moment I have the user ftpUser in the group ftpuser and the home dir /var/www/. I tried various different solutions on how to add another user (ftpUser2 in /var/www2/), but nothing helped. I always got the login popup when I entered the ftpUser2 name and pw. Here are my confs:

protftpd.conf: http://

modules.conf: http://

If this isn't the proper place to ask, it'd be great if anyone could tell me where to ask.

edit: a big thank to nerve for asking for the proftpd.log and the passwd because second told me that the home dir wasnt changed correctly, gonna post the two files anyway but it works! Thanks! ;)

Can you provide the output of /var/log/proftpd/proftpd.log (if there is anything) after attempting to log in, as well as the user entry from /etc/passwd? – nerve Apr 25 '13 at 22:24
Sure I can but currently my connection is too slow for a vnc connection and the ftp is jailed in one directory. I'll upload this evening – nO_OnE_910 Apr 26 '13 at 10:51
