I got my first VPS server and WHM, I went through initial setup. How can I make sure that I have setup it correctly, what to do to test it, I have done dns update, but I need to wait max 48 hours to apply DNS changes. How can I make sure now that WHM is setup correctly?

WHM itself doesn't necessarily rely on any DNS settings so I've assumed you're asking about the website you've setup while using WHM.
If you've setup a site and want to test DNS before the changes kick in you can do a little trick to fake the DNS changes on your local machine.
You can update your hosts file (on OSX it's /etc/hosts) to have an entry for your site:
This way when you try to visit site.com in your browser, it will check your hosts file and direct you to the IP you've specified. This will allow you to check if you've setup a site properly.
This trick can be applied to any other general DNS changes that you'd like to test before they are fully propagated.
