I am trying to install jenkins on centOS but am having difficulties. When I start jenkins with:

$sudo service jenkins start

It returns ok and all my domains are up and running. But when I try to navigate to: http://mydomain.com:8080 my ssh client drops connection with broken pipe and all of my domains are down for an hour or more, before restarting.

This is extremely irritating as I have to wait a couple of hours after every try. I'm thinking the problem is DNS (by looking at the java exception below) or that there may be another process binded on port 8080? Here are the logs for jenkins:

That could come from your firewall and having multicast enabled/disabled here a thread discussing the exact same issue java.net/nonav/projects/hudson/lists/issues/archive/2010-05/…;. Hope it helps –  Spredzy May 15 '13 at 7:17

@Spredzy I don't see the connection between the errors but in other threads I have seen multicast mentioned, so you may be on the right track. Think I'll try the jenkins mailing lists/forums for answers and post results here, thanks for your direction –  Coombesy May 15 '13 at 8:03

sorry wrong link -> java.net/nonav/projects/hudson/lists/issues/archive/2010-05/… –  Spredzy May 15 '13 at 8:08
