I have a Server 2003 machine/domain controller that was simple to configure when adding a new website and making it available over the Intranet, even to the VPN users who dialed in.
I now have a Server 2012 Essentials machine/domain controller where I can not figure out how to open a site up to the Intranet. I can access the site from the server, but not from a machine remoting in via VPN (PPTP, in both cases).
My machine is not on the domain in either case. We do use port forwarding on a router, default DNS points to the 2012 server, but I've never had to do anything special to open up a site on a new port. (e.g., site one would be port 1001, site two would be 1002.) I am able to hit the default site (http and on port 80), but not a specified port other than port 80.
The specified port was opened up in the Windows Firewall, and I don't see anything in McAfee that would be blocking it. I can ping the servers.
Any help would be appreciated.
