Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm preparing installers for a suite of services. One of them has a number of configuration and firewall issues to work through. Normally, I can turn to the Event Viewer and find the .NET and other errors there.

However, when the service is installed to log on as a Network Service, it merely tells me that the service "started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

Is there some reason it will show in Windows Logs except when it's a Network Service? How can I get it to log why it's failing so I can fix it?
