I am facing following problem.

URL rewriting with .htaccess is working perfectly on HTTP URLs. Now I have installed SSL Certificates on my server and now accessing my site with HTTPS URLs. Site is working fine with normal URLs i.e URLs with no URL rewrite rule in .htaccess.

But when I access a HTTPS URL for which there is a rule in .htaccess it gives me 404 error.

I have performed number of tests, like simple redirect of https://mydomain.com to http://www.google.com but its not working.

It seems HTTPS URL completely ignores rules and conditions written in .htaccess file.

Please help me.

Hmm. What does your rewrite log say? And what happens if you put garble in .htaccess? Do you get a server fault? –  Halfgaar Jun 11 '13 at 9:16
Yes garble gives me Internal server error 500. rewrite log? how can i check rewrite log on my server? –  Irfan DANISH Jun 11 '13 at 9:44
You'd have to enable it in the apache conf. –  Halfgaar Jun 17 '13 at 14:45

You'd have to show your virtual host configs for the SSL and non-SSL sites, but I suspect the SSL version is missing an AllowOverride all statement.
